There’s nothing better than dipping crispy sweet potato fries into a creamy chipotle dipping sauce. After eating my fair share of fries and sauces at Nice Burger, Veggie Grill, and Native Foods over the years, I’ve perfected my own sweet potato fries dipping sauce that’s easy to make, requires no cooking, and is adaptable for vegans!

Sauce ingredients

ingredients for sweet potato fries dipping sauce

This sweet potato fries dipping sauce comes together with just a handful of ingredients in a mini food processor or blender.

  • Mayonnaise adds a creamy, rich texture to the sauce. To make this sauce vegan, you can use vegan mayonnaise.
  • The foundation of this sauce comes from chipotle peppers seasoned with adobo sauce. It adds lots of sweet, smoky, and spicy tasting notes to the sauce. Since it comes canned, you don’t even need to cook anything.
  • Lemon juice balances acidity with the richness of the mayonnaise, offering up a nice citrus flavor.
  • Kosher salt adds just enough salinity.
  • Seasonings of onion and garlic powder give lots of aromatic layers.

I wouldn’t recommend making a smaller batch of this sauce, as it might be challenging to blend properly in a machine.

Other ways to use this dipping sauce

Sweet potato fry dipping sauce isn’t just for crispy sweet potato fries! My favorite things to pair with sweet potato fries dipping sauce are grilled chicken kabobs, pan-fried chicken bites, or veggie skewers for added flavor. You can also dip other fried dishes like air fryer zucchini fries, crispy fried tofu, or shrimp tempura.

Prep & storage tips

You can make this dipping sauce the day before to save time. The FDA recommends keeping homemade sauces in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-5 days. When using the sweet potato fries dipping sauce, use a clean spoon to serve to help prevent contamination.
